What is this site?
This is a (hopefully) easy to use site for buying and selling ham radio gear- transceivers, antennas, transmitters, receivers and such, which requires NO Registration, is not laden with graphics (fast), and allows us hams to trade on a "local" basis. It is FREE to use.

Sites cost money to keep going, how is it free?
I may place some text ads on the site in the future to pay for bandwidth and maintenance of the site, for the present there are none. I am firmly against animated images or Flash based ads on the site.

What are the Ad Restrictions?
All ads should be in English, Please see the terms of use regarding risks (they're all yours). No obscene ads or photos, no stolen or illegal items (eg Galaxy CBs, kickers, etc) Your ads must be related to ham radio or hobby electronics.

Why create yet another Ham Radio Trading Site?
I was sad to see the ARRL quit the online classifieds service, and while I like the services provided by sites like QRZ.com, QTH.com, and Eham.net, none are as easy to use as a site owned by eBay- Craigslist. This site is intended for use by ham (amateur) radio operators in their own local areas. In short, I would like to use something that works like a Craigslist, which is run by and for the benefit of hams, is LOCAL in nature, and is not so full of moving flashing images that it takes minutes to load a page or crashes your web browser. Hams naturally like to trade LOCALLY- I personally do not want to buy a Amplifier located in China, and I imagine most hams in the States do not as well.

Who are you?
I am Bill Laakkonen, N4BKT. I've been a ham for many years and started a successful web hosting company in the 90's. I've sold the company and have been seen selling Silicone Rescue Tape at a few hamfests as well as doing consulting work for my long-time clients. I'm partly employed, partly retired, so to speak. My first radio at age 13 was a WRL Galaxy V. So I am a young old-timer who considers Amateur Radio a vital national resource for skilled technical people. Ham radio skills are even more important in our modern throw-away society today as the hobby may be one of the few remaining gateways toward a career in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.

Is it really free or will you sell my info?
Yes, the service is free, no I will not sell your info. I will not spam you. Having owned an ISP/Hosting company, I can tell you I detest spam and won't bug/beg you for donations. If you want to have a featured or extended listing, then you can donate a buck or two- but you'll get something extra for the support.

How do I contact you?
You may contact me at swapmaster (at) this domain dot com- substitute the domain name for the site..
